1938 - ZANESVILLE SPEEDWAY
Louie Morosco built the Zanesville Speedway about 1938, The track as many did, closed for a few years during World War 11.
Over the years, the race track and the general surrounding areas have seen several changes.
From inception the race track was a short dirt track, At one point it became an asphalt surface speedway track.
Between the seasons of 1970 and 1971 the track was lenghtened to a half mile clay surface with the clay being layed over the top of the asphalt.
Grandstands were added thru these years, there was a turn four hill that fans could use their own lawn chairs, cement blocks as well as steel bleachers were added along both straight.
By 1980 Louie Morosco was getting on in years so he decided to onsell the Speedway to Mr Ronald F Moran.

1983 - MUSKINGUM COUNTY SPEEDWAY
Ronald Moran brought the speedway with the intension of rebuilding the venue.
After three years of hard work and many unwanted delays, the whole race track was torn up and the asphalt removed, the tire barrier that surrounded the track was removed, all the old Bleachers and concession stands were completely demolished.
A new concrete wall was installed along the front straight as well as a new concession stand and office building, New grandstands were constructed with a press box positioned high above the race track.
The old Zanesville Speedway that closed in 1980 reopened in May of 1983 as the Muskingum County Speedway under the control of the Moran family.
