1961 - LAKESIDE INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
Lakeside International Raceway is a dedicated road race circuit that was built by volunteers in the sixtee's and opened on the 19th of March 1961.
The 1.5 mile or 2.41 km Circuit has hosted many forms of motor racing over the years including 2 Australian Grand Prix's, The 1964 and 1967 Australian Touring Car Championships as well as round in the following years when the format was changed, also rounds of the Tasman Series.
Lakeside has also hosted the Australian Superbike Championship.
Several factors would lead to the circuit closing in 2001 only to reopened in on the 5th of April 2008 as a local race track only.

1967 - AUSTRALIAN TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP
Brisbane's Lakeside Raceway hosted the 8th running of the Australian Touring Car Championship on the 30th of July 1967.

1969 - LAKESIDE INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2nd February 1969The 1969 Australian Grand Prix was hosted by Lakeside Raceway under the promotion of the Queensland Motor Sports Club. This event was open to both the Australian National Formula Cars as well as the Australian Formula two Cars.
Chris Amon from New Zealand won this the 34th running of the Grand Prix, doing so from pole position, he also set the fastest

lap of the race. Both Amon and second placed Derek Bell were driving British built Scuderia Veloce cars. Leo Geoghegan in a Lotus 39 with a Repco V8 engine finished 3rd, and one lap down. Fifteen drivers met the starter and only eight finished the sixty seven lap race, the others retired because of accidents or engine drama's.

2007 - LAKESIDE PARK
On December the 18th of 2007 the Pine Rivers Shire Council and the owners of Queensland Raceway (Wrexmere Pty Ltd) signed a thirty year lease deal with a ten year option to operate the venue, The facility was to be used for driver training as well as racing.
The circuit reopened on the 5th of April 2008 and was strictly for local racing, As the management also owned the Queensland Raceway it was never the intension for the two venues to compete each other, more to complement one another,

2008 - MAJOR UPGRADING
During the 2008 - 2009 season Lakeside was closed so the Management team and a group of volunteers could upgrade and widen the circuit, The track width was increased to twelve metre's and a tunnel was added underneath the track, By 2011 many of the steel Armco barriers had been removed from the infield and sandtraps installed, many of the run off area's were increased in size as well as concrete barriers installed.
