1924 - GERRINGONG BEACH RACES.
Newspaper reports indicate that the Seven Mile Beach at Gerringong in Wollongong was a regular hot spot for car and motorcycle racing during the 1920's and through to the 1940's.
The beach was not only used for racing events, Trials and Land Speed records were also carried out, Charles Kingsford Smith used the beach as an airfield to launch his plane while setting flying records.

1929 - THE WEEK BRISBANE QLD. Reported.
In 1929 Norman "Wizard" Smith drove his Don Harkness "Mystrey" purpose built land speed car at Seven Mile Beach setting a new Australian Land Speed record of 128mph, This car was controversialy called "ANZAC". He later shipped the car to 90 mile beach in New Zealand and set a Land Speed record there, but was given bad press due to him waiting for better beach conditions, He finally ran under difficult conditions and damaged the car.
