1986 - FERNDENE SPEEDWAY
Ferndene Speedway opened in 1986 under the control of the Taranaki Speedway Association inc, on private farming land owned by Gary Marsh.
The track was a 1/4 mile dirt oval that featured high banked corners at one end and flat corners at the opposite end.
Motor Cycles and Midgets featured in the early years, Saloon Car and Winged Stock Cars were added to the program later on.
The track was very popular in its early years with many blue ribbon events being held there, But as time went by the popularity faded and the running of the venue became unprofitable, This led to the track closing in 2012.

2012 - FERNDENE SPEEDWAY
2012 - Speedway owner Gary Marsh has confirmed that the Taranaki Speedway Association, have decided that as the track operators for the past 26 years, it was no longer a viable situation and has ceased operations.
