1946 - OGLETHORPE SPEEDWAY.
It was in 1946 that Donald Brewster brought some land and began building a speedway. Sadley just after construction had started, Brewster had a heart attack and died.
As luck would have it, another man in Joe Blount, who also had a passion to build a speedway continued on with the project. Blount completed the build just in time for the 1951 racing season.

1951 - OGLETHORPE SPEEDWAY.
Oglethorpe Speedway opened in March of 1951 as a oiled dirt track, Motorcycle's and Car shared the track with a lot of success, peaking in the 1960's. The venue did take a major hit in the 1960's when the nearby Savannah Speedway opened, The drivers and fans would migrate from Oglethorpe to the Savannah dirt track initially and then when it was sealed that was the death of Oglethorpe, The owner's continued to battle on through to 1976 when they closed the track at the end of the 1976 season. However the speedway did re-open again under new owners in the 1980's and continued to operate ramping up the program with Sprintcars and Late Model Sedans, through until 2021 when it ran its last meeting.
