1947 - CARPINTERIA THUNDERDOME.The Carpinteria Thunderbowl opened in 1947 after the 2nd World War and the lifting of the World Wide ban on motor racing as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway, The track operated until it closed in 1956.
1948 - JIMMY McMAHON.It would be the 11th of July 1948 that James McMahon from Sydney Australia would loose his life in a speedway crash at Carpinteria Thunderdome.

1994 - CARPINTERIA THUNDERBOWL. Location.
The Speedway has been best described as in a plateau above the beaches at the South end of the town of Carpinteria, near Santa Barbara, and not far from Rincon Point and close to the current intersection of of highways 101 and 150.
2021 - CARPINTERIA THUNDERBOWL. Location.

Kevin Hansen recalls: I was born and raised in Carpinteria, and although i was only nine when the track closed, I recall that it was on Oceanside of the 101 highway as i have marked on the attached picture.
I think my mum now 100 years old could confirm that.
