1960 - CAREY PARK FLYING 50
Not since 1947 had car racing been held on the streets of Bunbury, because of the relative isolation of the Carey Park suburb south east of the town centre it was decided to run the event there, the cars were mainly production type cars with two ex works racers in an Aston Martin db3s driven by Ray Barfield and a Ferrari driven by Doug Green competing.

This Super eight vision captured by Raymond Mather of the Around the Houses racing, at the Carey Park long circuit in 1960, is a wonderful time capsule of the race cars of the period, as well as the streets, homes and bussiness's of the day.
The vission has been taken at various points on the circuit including, turning into Mary Street off Clarke Street with Hands Oval in the background and then left into Constitution Street, Exiting Constitution Street turning right onto Spencer Street, then heading down the long straight to the right hander at the Highway corner, with the Highway Hotel in the background.
1960 - Vission: Kerry O'Shea collection.
