1949 - REX SPEEDWAY
Rex Speedway opened in 1949 as a 1/2 mile high banked dirt oval speedway track. Stock Cars and Hot Rod racing would feature at the venue, along with wreck races, similar to today's Demo Derby's. Just like today this deliberate vanderlisem of cars would bring in the paying crowds. The track only lasted five years, closing down in 1954.
