1928 - NORTH CAROLINA STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
Motor Racing commenced at the Fairgrounds on the 1/2 mile dirt oval in 1928, Fans would pack the grounds to watch the racing, Motor Racing was halted at the fairgrounds in 1941 due to the outbreak of World War two.

1955 - NORTH CAROLINA STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
The Fairground did once again Motor racing again in 1946 after the end of the war, But it was in 1955 the Fairground hosted it 1st NASCAR event, unfortunately rain caused the race to be cut short with Junior Johnson declared the winner as he was leading.

1970 - NORTH CAROLINA STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
In 1970 the North Carolina State Fair Speedway earnt the honour of being the last dirt track to ever host a NASCAR race, Richard Petty was the winner of that race, The track closed in 1970 shortley after that last NASCAR race.
