1937 - HAMMOND RACEWAY
Opened in 1937 as a 5/8 mile banked and paved oval. The program consisted of Big open wheel cars that reached some amazing speeds. Safety really wasn't a priority but no one seemed to mind. Just like many other tracks the World War 2 ban on motor racing closed the track, never to reopen.
