1930's - CASTLEREAGH AERODROME
Castlereagh Aerodrome has been reported as being built in the 1930's and was used as an emergency airstrip. In 1942 it was utilized as a Royal Australian Air Force base during World War Two. It main duty was to be an emergency landing airstrip for the RAAF Richmond air base.

1947 - CASTLEREAGH AERODROME. RACES.
At the end of World War 2 and the lifting of the world wide ban on motorsport, a bunch of petrol heads gained permission to hold Motor Racing events at the now disused Castlereagh Aerodrome. Events such as Racing, Speed Trials, Drag Racing etc were being held.

1947 - CASTLEREAGH AERODROME. RACES. 7th April 1947.The Drag Strip ran basically as an "Outlaw" operation from 1947 up until 1959 when the Australian Racing Drivers Club took over the promotion of the venue, The strip was leased from property owners "Walter Properties Pty Ltd".
This meeting on the 7th of April 1947 was organised by the Motor Cycle Racing Club of New South Wales.

1959 - CASTLEREAGH AERODROME. AUSTRALIAN RACING DRIVERS CLUBWith the control of the strip being taken over by the Australian Racing Drivers Club, changes were made, The events became more professional and more tightly controlled, The introduction of American concept race cars as well as greater horsepower power plants.
