*************************************************************Welcome to the pages of your new speedway newspaper, Having parted with 25 cents to buy your first copy of Australian Speedway News, it figures that you might be curious as to what you can expect in future issues.
Lets face it, Many of you probably said " Oh no not another speedway paper" when you spotted this issue for the first time at your newsagent - and who could blame you for that ? Were speedway fanatics ourselves and have been guilty of saying the same thing many time as we've watched various speedway publications come and go over the years.
But here we are, the issue of Australian Speedway News you're holding now will be followed up by another issue in 14 days - and every fortnight thereafter the whole year round.
As the name suggests - news and views from the speedway scene Australia wide, from the big city tracks to the smallest country ovals. A certain amount of space will also be devoted to news from New Zealand, England, the USA and other major speedway areas around the world.

During the next few weeks we will be finalising arrangements that will provide readers with a comprehensive coverage of the Australian speedway scene, wherever it might be happening - if its of interest then your entitled to know about it, and Australian Speedway News is going to bring it to you.
Promoters, correspondents and photographers, wherever you are, we're waiting to hear from you, some of Australia's best known speedway personalities, reporters and photographers have already joined Australian Speedway News, and I know you will enjoy their contributions.
Your editor, Paul Burke, needs no introduction, having been a contributor to many speedway magazines during past years and well known as a member of the Kevin Gormley pit crew.
And yes, seeing as how we're all speedway fans and speak the same language, we'd naturally like to hear from you about any special features you would like to see included or how you think we might be able to improve future issues
