Solo Speedway Championship of the World. 22nd September 1949.Tommy Price wins World ChampionshipHere tonight at the packed Wembley Stadium it was an all England podium with Tommy Price winning the 4th running of the World Speedway Solo Championship in front of a 93,000 strong crowd.
Tommy won the Championship with a 15 points maximum score, leading his fellow English rider's in Jack Parker on 14 points and Louis Lawson on 13 points.

Williams gained 600 pounds first prize.Young Australian Ronnie Moore was disqualified for unfair riding, while test stars Vic Dugan, Aub Lawson and former title holder Tommy Price missed places. |

Speedway Championship of the World, United Kingdom Final. 29th August 1964.Barry Briggs Tops Final PointsNew Zealand rider Barry Briggs has won the 1964 British Final of the World Championship. He has finished with a maximum score of 15 points, ahead of Ken McKinlay on fourteen and Ron How on thirteen.
The top eight point scorers from this meeting have qualified for the World Championship Final in Sweden in two weeks time.
Brad Mitchell recalls: Barry Briggs would go on to win his third World Championship at that next meeting in Sweden.
