1908 - YORKRAKINE SETTLEMENTYorkrakine was first settled in 1908 as part of a farm settlement scheme instigated by the then minister of lands and agriculture, Sir James Mitchell.
The Locality once boasted a school and a general store that have since closed, The Agricultural Hall that was built in 1926 continues to remain a community meeting points for functions.
The entire area producers wheat and other cerial crops and the town is a receaval depot for Cooperative Bulk Handling.
1929 - YORKRAKINE SPEEDWAYOnce a year after harvest the community of Yorkrakine would get together and hold a speedway and horse racing meeting in celebration.
It is believed that the meetings were held at a district farmers property.
