SLEEPS HILL
Sleeps Hill was primarily known as the location where the South Australian Government Railways acquired ballest for its railway lines from a number of quarries in the area.
The quarries and two crushers were situated on the Adelaide to Worseley line. The Sleeps Hill Railway Station still stood up until August of 2008 when it was demolished after sitting idol since 1955.

1945 - VELOCETTE MOTORCYCLE CLUB
It was during the war years that the Velocette Motor Cycle Club moved to the fore front by conducting charity events, Speedway at Camden and Scrambles at Sleeps Hill. By 1945 in conjuction with the RDA, revived speedway with the running of Saturday afternoon meetings at Kilburn, with the installation of lights: meetings were transferred to Friday nights.
With the demise of Kilburn the club put all its efforts into promoting there scramble events within the Sleeps Hill Quarries.
