Brian Moyle recalls: It was opening night of the brand new season, Jason had retired the Mini and was now mounted in a fresh Greg Freeman built 120y Datsun. Heat one for Junior's and Peter Rose had just flipped his brand new Toyota Corolla, so that was him done for the night. Heat two and the track was very rough but grippy beyond believe, so the right foot was firmly down in all the car's, so there was a fair amount of bouncing and wheel hiking going on. This was the first time that Jason had the ability to match the pace of Jamie Maiolo in his 120y or Eion Robinson in his Cerade. at about mid race Jason's car picked the two inside wheels right up and Barrel rolled multipull times between turn's one and two, as can be seen by the Peter French pics the new Datsun car was junked.
I was standing and watching the race at the pit gate at the time, so when the red lights came on the gate attendent opened the gate and let me on the infield to go to my boy, he was shook up and all concerned about his car and didn't want to know about the ambo's.
The cartoon drawing was done by one of Jason's school mates that crewed for him on the night.
As so much time had been put into the build we decided to repair the car to do that season and the off season at Bibra Lake and Ellenbrook, after all that Greg built another new car.
