1915 - PACIFIC COAST SPEEDWAY
Pacific Coast Speedway was located seven miles south of Tacoma, The speedway was a two mile timber oval with the corners banked at twenty one degree's, The opening meeting was on the 4th of July 1915.
When the four by two track surface timbers were laid a small gap was left between the timbers so when track was asphelted the asphelt would flow between the gaps, The venue closed on the 4th of July 1922, By 1935 the area was an airport.
Billy Carson and his co-driver mechanic both died in a crash on the opening meeting.
