1949 - ST LAWRENCE VALLEY SPEEDWAY
St Lawrence Valley Speedway opened in 1949 as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway within the then Canton Fairgrounds.
Stock Car racing was very popular at the time and so was this speedway. Competitors and Spectators would come from near and far to fill the venue.
The tracks life was quite short, closing in 1957, The reason behind the closure was reported as way too much competition from other tracks in the area.
