1960's - MUCKINBUDIN SPEEDWAY
The boys in Muckinbudin wanted a place to race so they approached local farmer Ray and Brian Shadbolt about constructing a race track on their farm about 10 kms to the North of the township, They agreed and the preparations began.
A town with a poplulation of 480 rallied to make the venue a success, Eddy Chrisp was a local council grader driver and the local shire offered the use of there grader provided Eddy was the opperator.
The original track was an oddball shape but later rectified, The new oval track was based loosely on the same specifications as Claremont Speedway.

ROSS MASSAM
Ross Massam, one of Mucka's early racers entered the sport as a budget racer around 1968 / 1969, Initially with his first car, an FJ Holden sedan followed by his next,a FJ Holden killer ute with the worked engine, this ute did him proud with good winning record.

Ross Massam recalls: The Muckinbudin Speedway being a very fast track as compared with others he raced at, He remembers scouring the tip for wrecks, taking front ends and panels as spares, just to keep the car on the track. His memories of other "Mucka" competitors at the time were John Hobbs, Danny O'Donnell senior and junior, Gary Copeland, Leo Van DerLeer and Owen O'Gilvey, The Chrisp's (Les, Eddy and Brian)

JOHN HOBBS

Keith Vanderleer Recalls: from memory the track is about 10k's North of Muckinbudin on the left hand side of the road in a gravel pit, there may be a another gravel pit on the other side of the road.

Alan Baker Recalls: the same imformation - we will keep you posted as there is a reunion planned at the local race track with many of the founding members attending, no date has been set at this stage.
