1980 - SYDNEY SHOWGROUND SPEEDWAY 8th February 1980USA Downs AUSTRALIA 69/61A star studded field of Speedcars were on hand for this Showgrounds meeting, it featured an Australia verses USA Speedcar Test Match featuring some of the world's best. The USA team of Mel Kenyon, Sleepy Tripp, Rich Vogler and Larry Rice defeated the Australian team consisting of newly crowned National Champion Barry Pinchbeck, Ron Wanless, John Fenton and Ronald Mackay.
Due to car issues with Pinchbeck and Wanless theyhad to be replaced with Howard Revell and Danny Davidson.
Kenyon was the star of the night by top scoring in the test match series and winning the nights feature race. The New South Wales Sidecar Pairs Championship was also on the program but was cancelled due to the condition of the race track.
