1947 - CAPITOL RACEWAY.
Capital Raceway opened on the 25th May 1947 as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway. The program featured Midget and Jalopy racing.
1954 - WEST CAPITAL RACEWAY.
In 1954 the venue went through a major upgrade. A 1/2 mile dirt oval track was added, it is possible that this is when the name of the venue changed from Capital Speedway to West Capital Speedway or Sacramento Speedway.

1980 - WEST CAPITAL SPEEDWAY.
Several factors led to both the 1/4 and 1/2 mile speedway venue closing. The 1/2 mile closed in 1972 and the 1/4 mile at the end of the 1980 season. Not long after closing the entire area was turned into a transport depot for a major trucking company.
