1929 - Mrs J JONES
On the 16th of August Northbourne Avenue Speed Trials run by R.A.C.A was won by Mrs J Jones a Maroubra Speedway competitor, She was driving a special Alpha Romeo reaching speeds of 75mph, The same car Hope Bartlett reached a speed of 92mph in an unofficial test.

1930 - NORTHBOURNE AVENUE SPEED TRIALS
Permission was sought and granted for the speed trials to go ahead in 1930, but so far there are no newspaper reports to say that the event went ahead.
Also maybe because of the great depression it seems that time trial events did not resume again until 1935.

1935 - NORTHBOURNE AVENUE SPEED TRIALS
With the resumption of speed trial in the Canberra, Northbourne Avenue hosted the New South Wales speed trials titles.

1936 - NORTHBOURNE AVENUE SPEED TRIALS 1st February 1936
Records show that the speed trials were held on the 1st of February 1936, with the overall winner being Mr Peters in a Bugatti at 106mph.

1937 - NORTHBOURNE AVENUE SPEED TRIALS 27th & 28th November 1937
Frank Kleinig would set the fastest speed in the flying 1/2 mile event at 115mph in W McIntyre's Miller Special, he also waon the standing quarter mile.

1938 - NORTHBOURNE AVENUE SPEED TRIALS 4th June 1938There was trouble with the timing device at the June 4 event, Whitehead claimed to have reached 130mph in the flying 1/2 mile by his tacho but it was not timed correctly, He won with a recorded time of 112mph.
Next unofficial fastest was Frank Kleinig in a Hudson V8 special with a time of 120mph, The meeting was marred by the faulty timing device.
No further newspaper reports have been found after 1938 in relation to the Northbourne Avenue Speed Trials, could it be that the start old World War 2 put a stop to the event.
