1942 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP.
During World War 2 an emergency or dispersal airstrip was constructed near Cordeaux Dam. The unusual part of this sealed strip was that it stretched across the main road from Wollongong to Appin. It was 5,000 feet long and 150 feet wide.

1946 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP.
After the war this tar strip was used by Motor Cycle and Car Clubs officially and sometimes unofficially to hold race meetings.

1946 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP. Miniature TT. 9th June 1946.
On the 9th of June 1946, the Wollongong Motorcycle Club staged a miniature TT event at the Cordeaux airstrip, The program consisted of four races on the day.

1946 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP. Motorcycle Racing. 4th August 1946.
On the 4th of August 1946, the Wollongong Motorcycle Club held a Motorcycle racing event at the Cordeaux Airstrip, the day featured a field of twenty five riders.

On the 6th of October 1946, the Wollongong Motorcycle Club staged a miniature TT event at the Cordeaux Airstrip. The program consisted of 5 races on the day.

1946 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP. Novelty Trial events. 10th November 1946.
On the 10th of November 1946, the Wollongong Motorcycle Club held a Novelty trial for a trophy day at the Cordeaux Airstrip.

1946 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP. Miniature TT. 24th November 1946.
On the 24th of November 1946, the Wollongong Motorcycle Club staged a miniature TT event for A and B grade riders at the Cordeaux Airstrip.

1949 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP. Acceleration Testing. 16th October 1949.
On the 16th of October 1949, the Razor Back Motorcycle Club held there first event at the airstrip, with a day of acceleration testing over 400 yards.

1954 - CORDEAUX AIRSTRIP. Car Rally. 28th August 1954.
On the 28th of August 1954, A private car rally to aid an injured man from Moss Vale was held, using the airstrip, some fifty cars attended, attracting around two thousand spectators.
About two weeks later on the 14th of October a letter from Mr Johnson, Secretary of C.A.M.S. is published in the South Coast times newspaper condemning "An unauthorized motoring event at the airstrip. The rally was possibly the event he was unhappy about.

On a recent visit back to the strip i found it over grown, nature was slowly reclaiming the area, you can still make out the position of the airstrip, it is now a Waterboard Catchment area and entry is prohibited.
