1956 - MOBILGAS RALLY
The first Mobilgas Rally was held in 1956, Starting and finishing in Sydney and covering a distance of 8,500 miles, The outright winners of this first event were Eddie and Lance Perkins in a 1200cc Volkswagon beetle.

The 1957 event held over 9,000 miles started and finished in Melbourne, The winners were Laurie Whitehead and Kevin Young in a 1200cc Volkswagon beetle.
