1966 - ELLIS SPEEDWAY
Ellis Speedway opened in 1966 as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway, but was sealed soon after within that same season.
The program consisted of Stock Cars, Modifieds and later on Supermodifieds.
Lost Dirt Tracks facebook has reported that drivers such as Darrell Waltrip is believed to have run his first race at Ellis Speedway. Stirling Marlin and the great Red Farmer were also noted competitors, add to that PB Crowell. The owner sadly passed away in 1973 and the track ended up closing.
