1974 - And as the story goes, behind every great man is a greater woman, While Bill Francis was off taking care of work and preparing race cars, Jan was behind him all the way, not to mention trying to keep her two boys David and Peter under control who were also speedway mad, One thing Jan did do well over those years was collect a lot of information that appears on this website, For that Jan we all thank you very much. Bill Temperton recalls: Hi Brian, Des Martin lives in Geraldton these days and has been battling cancer for some time now, we go and see him and his wife Lola when convenient as he is in pallative care now, Bloody top bloke, we had some fun times racing in the early days, he is still pissed off with me knocking him off a few laps from home to win the North West Open Championship at Roebourne International Speedway in 1974.
