1940 - RICHMOND MIDGET STADIUM
Richmond Midget Stadium opened in 1940 as a 1/5 mile dirt oval track dedicated to Midget racing, The surface of the track was paved in its second year of operation.
The outbreak of World War 2 would cause the track to close because of the motor sport ban that was put in place.
By 1946 the war had ended and the Midget racing had returned, The car counts were big and so were the spectator numbers, The weekly Monday night events were a big success.
As the 1960's approached the speedways popularity fell away and the track was forced to close in 1963.
