During 1928 the Port Pirie and Districts Trotting Club held harness racing meetings at the Memorial Oval under electric lights, Like many other country venues the trotting track was also used for speedway racing.
--------------------------------------------------------------9th May 1928 - Police CourtsIn the police court to-day for breaches of council by-laws in respect to traffic, Ewart Nuske was fined one pound and costs, Norman Pratz, ten shillings and costs and Edward Eckersley, ten shillings and costs,Eight small boys were each fined one shilling with one and six costs for having un-lawfully climbed the Memorial Oval fence during the speedway racing. |
