1950's - PEARSE'S LAKE TRACK
There was a speedway from the mid 1950's, through to the early 1960's at Nyah West, along with the track was a pub and a railway station, This was what was known as Pearse's Lake Track.
The track was situated to the west of Nyah West of the Chinkapook road and before Yarraby.
The oval track ran around the outside of a lake, when the water level became too high, a track was scratched out in an adjoining property.
Stalwarts of Pearse's Lake were the local copper Reg McMillan and his son David i think, in a pair of 1934 Ford sedans, Vampire one and two, The Batten boys and the Lusty's to.
The club was also known to have travelled to the Koondrook track to race, a part of Woanna Park across the river from Swan Hill.
