1973 - SILVERDOME STADIUM
The Stadium construction started in September of 1973 and opened in August of 1975, The domed stadium sits on 127 acres in the city of Pontiac and was the vision of C.Don Davidson a Pontiac local.
Over the years the Silverdome hosted many events as well as its original use as a football stadium, 1975 Opened with a concert from rock band the Who, 1975 Elvis held his first new years eve concert, 1977 Led Zeppelin performed to 76,000 people, By 1980 Speedway racing was being held in the venue, It is believed that in 1982 Speedways 1st ever indoor sedan car racing started, 1987 Wrestle Mania 111 and Pope John Paul 11 celebrated mass, 1988 > 1991 several basketball tournaments, 1992 Guns N Roses played with Metallica and Faith no More, 1994 World Cup Soccer and Pink Floyd performed their Dark Side of the Moon concert, 2000 Metallica played to a New Years crowd, In 2006 the Stadium closed due to the lack of a major tenant, By 2009 attempts were made to auction off the stadium but it seemed that no body wanted the venue just like the city, The venue did open again in 2010 for Monster trucks and later that year AC Milan and Panathinaikos soccer clubs played in the match of titans, 2011 and a World Championship Boxing event was staged.
In 2014 the stadiums contents began to be auctioned off with no future plans of reopening the Silverdome.
