1990 - PORTSMOUTH RACEWAY PARK
One time home to the Shawnee Indians
In the year of 1990 a local farmer by the name of Boone Coleman decided to build a track on his farm so his son could practice his racing skills, the raceway was built on the one hundred acre farm where the Scioto River meets the Ohio River.
As the track took shape and Boone's investment grew he decided to put in some public seating and try to recover some of his costs.
Portsmouth opened with its first meeting on the 22nd of September 1990, by 1991 a full years racing calander was in place.

In 1992 while preparing for their first big two day show, vandels started up a D9 Bulldozer that was on site and proceded to destroy the buildings and grand stand structures, as the area was fogged in at the time no one could see what was going on, when the workmen arrived in the morning they were devastated, the area looked like a war zone.
Boone along with the community met the problem head on and within two weeks the speedway was once again open for business.
