1977 - THE DIRT SURFACE RETURNS
Towards the end of 1977 the tracks promotion had ran a truck derby for prime movers, the heavy trucks tore up the asphalt and after evaluation it was considered cheaper to tear up the tar rather than repair it, It was after this that a decision was made to build a purpose built half mile track on the other side of the pit area, The truck didn't prove to be popular and the half mile oval became another one of Australia's ghost speedways.
