Originally built as a half mile dirt oval, The venue opened on the 28th of April 1973 and closed in 1981. The track was also known as Hokes Bluff Speedway, The speedway closed its gates in 1981.

1970's - HAROLD FRIER
Harold Frier lost his life while competing at Gadsden, A drive shaft came out of a car he was following, it smashed through the windscreen killing him.

1983 - GADSDEN RACEWAY 3/8 MILE
The track reopened as a shorter 3/8mile high banked dirt oval in 1983 featuring a lot of Late Model racing, The track once again closed for the final time in 1993.
