Sunset Speedway opened in 1957 as a 1/4 mile oval track hosting sedan car racing, In about 1969 new owners took over the track and added to the program, Late Models and Modifieds.

1976 - SUNSET SPEEDWAY. WORLD OF OUTLAWS.
In 1976 the Kelley family took over the venue and introduced there first World of Outlaws race and in 1986 a round of the Nascar Busch all star tour.
