1922 - KANSAS CITY SPEEDWAY
Jack Prince and Art Pillsbury, who also built other speedways such as Beverly Hills Speedway, built this 1.25 mile high banked timber board track at a cost of $500,000, The venue featured two grandstands and parking for 20,000 automobiles, including 5,000 on the infield.
Kansas City Speedway opened on the 17th of September 1922 as a board track, The venue only operated for two years before it burnt to the ground in 1924.
The inaugural meeting was to be held on the 16th of September, but rain delayed that to the following day, In excess of 50,000 people attended that opening meeting.
In the two year life of the speedway only four meetings would be held at the venue, Both cars and motorcycles featured at the Kansas track.
seventeen drivers took part in that opening meeting with Tommy Milton winning the event, other drivers included Leon Duray, Tony Gulotta, Cliff Durant and Roscoe Sarles.

1922 - ROSCOE SARLES
27 year old Roscoe Sarles would be the one and only driver to loose his life at the track, when he collided with Pete Depola on the 110th lap of the first race meeting.

1924 - KANSAS CITY SPEEDWAY CLOSES
The final meeting at Kansas City Speedway was held on the 4th of July 1924, The race had to be stopped at the 150 mile mark as large holes were appearing within the board surface. The final race was won by Jimmy Murphy.
