1959 - BLUEFIELD SPEEDWAY
Bluefield Speedway opened in 1959 as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway that was sunk into the ground, this enhanced spectator viewing as well as safety.

1960 - MERCER SPEEDWAY
The original promotor who ran the venue decided to step out after one year only. A new management team stepped up bringing a more professional package, which included Nascar sanctioning. The name of the track was changed to Mercer Speedway, Large fields of Stock Cars, Sportsmans and Modifieds raced on a regular basis, as time went on though the success faded with management teams coming and going, name changes such as, Mountaineer Speedway, Littlesburg Raceway and R&S Speedway. The venue would only survive to the end of the 1967 season.
