1914 - CAMP JOE HOOKER
During the American Cival War the site on Staples Shore Road was used as millitary camp for three regiments, the 3rd the 4th and the 5th.
The camp was known as Camp Joe Hooker, named after General Joe Hooker from Massachusetts.

1922 - GOLDEN SPUR SPEEDWAY
As most Fairground's the Middleborough one was used for many purposes, this included the annual fair, Horse Racing and in the 1922 Speedway Racing, under the name of Golden Spur Speedway.
Speedway racing commenced during the 1922 on the 1/2 mile dirt circuit, firstly with midget cars . These Speedway events were not regular, but reports indicate that the track was used again in 1938, Again in 1941 / 1942 before closing for World War 2 21st of September 1975 when the venue closed,

1946 - GOLDEN SPUR SPEEDWAY
It has been reported that on the 5th of October 1946 a motorcycle speedway event was conducted at the track, after the world wide ban on motor racing had been lifted.

1964 - LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY
It appears that the noise of reving engines did not return to the track until 1964 when regular meetings began, meetings that included the ever popular Stock Cars and Modifieds.

1975 - LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY
After its 10 years of successful 10 years of operations the track was forced to close in 1975 because of housing that was building up near the race track.
