1962 - ORAN PARK RACEWAY
Oran Park was established by the Singer Car Club and opened to the public on the 17th of Febuary 1962, the original one mile track received upgrades over the years, firstly to 1.21 miles in length and then to 1.63 miles in 1974.
Many high profile events for a wide range of classes of racing were held at Oron Park, from Motorcycle to rounds of the Australian Drivers Championship and rounds of the Australia Touring car championship right through to the current V8 Supercar Championship, Open Wheelers and Sports Sedans.
The venue also had a Motorcross, Rallycross and a four wheel drive coarse as well as a Drag Strip.
The track would close for racing on the 16th of January 2010, the circuit did continue to hold open days for the public to relive a lap of the great circuit, the last of these days was the 25th of January 2010.
