1969 - BOORT SPEEDWAY
Lakeside Speedway Club, located in a small community in Western Victoria established an effective speedway, launched by Jack Hackshaw and Ron Whykes, Jack was the inaugural president and Ron Harrison the secretary.
The track was a quarter mile speedway with a railway sleeper fence and a clay/sand race surface, the club and speedway lasted about 10 years after it opening.

Ron Williams (Rochester)The Lakeside Club actively encouraged visiting drivers and ran many successful meeting because of this.
Ron Williams from the Rochester Club and an ex-national Saloon Car Champion at the time created a degree of infamy for himself by crashing spectacularly into the fence along main straight and largely destroying his lightweight EH Holden.
