1879 - SHEEPSHEAD BAY SPEEDWAY (1)
Previous to its life as a speedway the area was a horse racing track. Auto racing was held at the track from 1902 through to 1904 and once again in 1910, but during the period from 1908 to 1911 the State of New York had introduced a Bill that would ban all betting on horse racing, The ban was lifted by 1913 but it was to late The Coney Island Jockey Club had allready sold the venue to the Sheepshead Bay Speedway Corperation, this track was a one mile dirt oval.

1915 - SHEEPSHEAD BAY SPEEDWAY (2)
After the Coney Island track closed a new track was built further inland.
When built the racetrack was a two mile timber oval built by Blaine Miller, The venue opened on the 9th of October 1915 and closed on the 20th of September 1919.
Two drivers lost there lives at the track, Harry Grant in October 1915 and Carl Limberg on the 13th of May 1916.
The Sheepshead Bay Speedway Corperation ran into financial difficulties after the death of Harry Harkness"The tracks major shareholder" The venue closed and some time later the property was sold off for housing.
