1981 - BAYLANDS RACEWAY PARK
The 1/3rd mile oval track was added to the existing Fremont Dragstrip in 1981 with the opening date being in August of that year.
Baylands or Fremont Speedway as it was also known as played a major roll in the booming sprintcar racing scene in Northern California.
Running on a weekly basis the venue catered for winged sprints as well as special World of Outlaws, CRA, BCRA, Golden State Challenge and NARC events.
The drivers that raced at Baylands read like a who's who of sprintcar racing, Jimmy Sills, Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Rich Vogler, Bobby Davis Jnr, Tim Green, Ronnie Day, Lealand McSpadden and many more.
The track closed in November of 1988.
