1955 - SOUTH PENN SPEEDWAY
South Penn Speedway opened as a 1/4 mile dirt oval speedway in 1955 running Stock Cars. In time Modifieds would be added to the program. Racing at the venue was sanctioned by the Hobby Auto Racing Association.

1965 - SOUTH PENN SPEEDWAY
In 1965 the length of the speedway was increased to a 1/2 mile layout in a search for more speed and increased action.

1972 - GAYLAND SPEEDWAY
By 1972 the ownership of the track had changed in a hope of picking up on some of the lost popularity that the track had suffered in recent years.
The tracks name was changed to Gayland Speedway. In spite of all the efforts the track was forced to close after the 1974 racing season.
