1940 - HORACE MANN SPEEDWAY

Originally the 1/2 mile dirt track was used for horse racing. In 1940, motor racing took over for the first time in the way of Midgets.
A 1/5 mile paved track was built in the inside of the original track, Midget racing was once again run with the sanctioning of BSMRA. Later that year, AAA began sanctioning races. They held quite a number of events through 1941.
The following year, they held a couple of races before motor racing was banned due to WW11. Once the ban was lifted the racing returned to the 1/2 mile track. Once again, it was only a couple of races before racing stopped completely.
