Mark Drew recalls: Bout a 280 metre track, as small as they come, heaps of dirt, small and fast, Early 1990's, Tina and my self's first heat was heat 3, Meeting started at 7.30, The first two races took to ten pm with three crashes, Two Ambulance's and a Helicopter attended.
Andrew Cleaves home track, 7000 people cramped in around the track and Cleavey was god to everyone of them, They were throwing full cans of beer at me, telling me to fuck off back to WA, comming up to the fence in the pits and picking fights, I fuckin Loved it, having a laugh under my breath, happy for my mate Cleavey he had suck a following.
Undera the only track iv raced at where u can hear the crowd over the bike while yr on the track, First heat we had Ian Smith number two in Australia at the time. I'd never raced there before and thought to myself, OK get out in front and dont look back, well i did just that, as i was going over the finish line i looked across the track and saw Ian Smith still on the back straight, so won by half a lap, We went on to win the next couple of heats, then broke a rod and put it out through the crank case, The blown engine robbed us of the final heat that we were up against Andrew.
