1958 - DIXIE SPEEDWAY
Dixie Speedway or Midfield Speedway as it was later known opened in 1958 as a 1/4 mile paved oval track.
Nascar did in fact sanction the track and many Modified Championship races were held there, Drivers such as Ned Jarrett, Donnie and Bobby Allison as well as Red Farmer made regular appearances.

1970 - MIDFIELD SPEEDWAY
In 1970 a new group had taken over the Speedway and the name was changed to Midfield Speedway, The race track was very popular with competitors as well as spectators but after the end of the 1974 season the track closed, It was demolished to make way for an Industrial complex.
