1957 - TAR - HEEL SPEEDWAY
In 1957 the track opened to local weekly racing, The track was built by Harold Brasington, most remembered as the founder of Darlington Speedway.
The speedway was considered quite modern for its time, but it never seemed to find real success and closed after only two or three years.

1963 - TAR - HEEL SPEEDWAY
Tar - Heel Speedway reopened in 1963 as a 1/4 mile sealed Nascar oval track, Its life was short lived recording 3 meetings only, The 5th of May 1963, The 10th of May 1963 and then on the 22nd of November 1963, these meetings were all Grand National events, it is believed that the track may have remained operational through until around 1967.

1975 - KINGS KOUNTRY MOTOR SPEEDWAY
The speedway reopened briefly in 1975 as Kings Kountry Motor Speedway, a reference to the "King" Richard Petty, who lived nearby, but that effort only lasted a matter of weeks and the track closed for ever.
