LEONORA SPEEDWAY
The Leonora Track was set up as a small track to entertain the mining company workforce, It was believed to have been set up by the Johnson families.
It was a short lived history.
Neal Johnson and son Chad along with non-related Rob Johnson and Mario Valenti were instrumental in scratching the dirt and pushing up banks to make a circular track. It was an outlaw track open to anyone, An earth wall around the perimeter dressed with an abundance of tractor tyres made the safety fence.
Rob Johnson would run out to the track with his water cart when the boys were having a run. No official meeting meeting was ever held on the track and it just became a practice track for the lads who raced in Kalgoorlie.
