GOOMALLING RACECOURSE SPEEDWAY

1906 - GOOMALLING RACECOURSEIt is believed that the Goomalling Racecourse began operating in 1906. It has been reported that the sport of Horse racing in the district did not stop because of World War 1. This was also the case for the nearby Jennacubbine race course.
We do know that the Horse racing at the Goomalling track did continue for some time before it finally closed, sometime after 1922.
*************************************************************1939 - GOOMALLING SPORTING CAR CLUBThe Goomalling Sporting Car Club was started by Charlie Dent, Ted Nicholson and Milton Royal in 1939. These three would travel to Dowerin to race at the Showground's.
*************************************************************1939 - GOOMALLING RACECOURSE SPEEDWAYSometime around 1936 the Goomalling Sporting Car Club turned the old abandoned Horse racing track into a Dirt Speedway and held speedway racing events there.
