Chum Taylor wins Governor's Cup

Congradulations to Chum Taylor on his magnificent win in tonight's Governors Cup, there's no doubt about him the older he gets the faster he goes.

Malcom Simmons having his first meeting at Claremont rode very well and should be a regular top scorer this season at Claremont.

I have followed his career through his grass track days and also speedway. I honestly thought he was due for a trip to Australia

long before this. Les Leisk bounced back to top form and his daring rides has earnt him a berth in the Aussie team.

Peter Eccelstone recalls: I rode in that International, and as I recall Chum ended up top points from Peter Collins of England.

The event was not apart of the England verses Australia Test series.

After the event I recall the riders all swapped jackets.

I ended up with Chris Pusey's and still have that jacket today.

What a tremendous wim for England tonight in the 6th Test. Led brilliantly by Nigel Boocock.

England pushed Australia to the limit and scored 59 to 49 points to win and also even the scores in the current Test Series.

Peter "Pedro" Pascoe recall's: the night at Claremont when Alf Barbagallo the home town boy and Ray Skipper from South Australia had been naughty boys and tipped Johnny Sims on his head near the start finish line. Miles Tomlinson "The Chief Steward got out the big stick (with black material on it as a warning.
