1934 - TELOWIE BEACH SPEED TRIALS
Regular speed meetings were held on Telowie Beach by the Pirie Motorcycle Club, The first meeting that could be found in the local papers was in 1934 and continued until 1940.
World War 2 intervened in the 1940's and like all forms of motorsport in Australia racing ceased.
Speed trial events recommenced after the war in 1945 and went on till at least 1953, The club may have held these meetings annually, some meeting's were cancelled because of foul weather.
Stock car racing at the beach was introduced in 1954 novelty events were often on the programme.
